Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS)
CMCSS continues to be recognized nationally for its academic and professional achievements, as well as its progressive and innovative methods for helping students become college and career ready. For four years straight, the system has been number one in the state for academic growth. Sixteen of its 40 schools were recognized as Reward Schools, performing in the top five percent statewide. The school system also has eight college and career academies in each of the high schools, a Middle College High School on the campus of Austin Peay State University, an Early Technical College at Tennessee College of Applied Technology and many other early postsecondary opportunities. In partnership with Austin Peay, two high schools offer the study of Korean and Japanese; and in 2018, CMCSS opened its first Spanish language immersion school for kindergarten through fifth grade.
Career and Technical Education (CTE)
“CTE does more than simply prepare students for careers, it provides students with an opportunity to develop specific academic, intellectual, technical, and 21st-century skills necessary to be successful in career and in life. In pursuit of ensuring every student in Tennessee achieves this level of success, we begin with rigorous course standards that feed into intentionally designed programs of study. Students engage in industry-relevant content through general education integration and experiences such as career & technical student organizations (CTSO), early postsecondary opportunities (EPSO), work-based learning (WBL) courses, and industry certifications. Through these experiences, students are immersed with industry-standard content and technology, solve industry-based problems, meaningfully interact with industry professionals, and use/produce industry-specific, informational texts. Immaculate Conception School
Immaculate Conception School (ICS) in Clarksville, TN, is a diocesan parochial school, approved by the Bishop of Nashville operating under the supervision of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Nashville. ICS is accredited by the State of Tennessee and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). ICS serves children from Kindergarten through 8th grade, and their mission is to develop the spiritual, intellectual, physical, and social growth of each child by providing a quality educational experience in an atmosphere of faith.

Austin Peay State University (APSU)
Austin Peay State University (APSU), established in 1927, was named for Clarksville native and former Tennessee Gov. Austin Peay and sits on a beautiful 195 acres in downtown Clarksville. Today, the University has grown to become a major regional provider of higher education with a student enrollment of 10,954 – as the fastest-growing public university in Tennessee.
APSU students can earn an associate, bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree, with 50+ graduate degree paths, and 125+ undergraduate degree paths. As the state’s leader in higher education for military-connected students, APSU offers many online degrees in eight-week terms, providing better options for military-connected students. APSU recently launched the state’s first-ever rotorcraft flight school that offers a bachelor’s degree – aviation science with a concentration in rotor wing (helicopters).
As the region continues to grow, the University continues to expand its footprint and enhance its ties with the Clarksville community through facility and property expansions, including continued growth on the south side of College Street, building a stronger direct connection into downtown Clarksville – a critical part of the University’s strategic plan.

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) serves as the premier supplier of workforce development throughout the State of Tennessee. Providing competency-based training through superior quality, traditional and distance learning instruction methods that qualify completers for employment and job advancement. TCAT ensures that programs and services are economical and accessible to all residents of Tennessee and establishes relationships of trust with the community, business, and industry leaders to supply highly skilled workers in areas of need.
The programs offered by the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology allow students to acquire marketable skills for entry into the labor market, or upgrade the present skills and knowledge of persons already employed. TCAT programs work to meet the present and anticipated needs of the business and industrial community and incorporate appropriate work habits and attitudes into their occupational programs. Instructional methods are individualized and competency-based, with students beginning on an individual level, with students exiting when specified competencies are met.
